Music is a big part in every DY kids life. Music is the perfect stress relief medicine, because there are just so many Generes such as Rock, Alternative, Pop, Punk, Metal, Classical, Country, Rap, Hip Hop, and there are so much more generes I havent listed because it would take me hours to list them all. Kids can go home, turn on their iPods, and just drift away from stress. Music is a finger print, No two people like the same exact music, you are different in your own way, and nobody can tell you otherwise. Music can be the knot that ties your day together.
Its almost time for the Battle of the Bands!On March 19, there is an organized get together, of students that are in bands, and other students who want to listen to them play. This event is directly supporting the fight against Genocide in Darfur. If you decide to come, dont forget to check out the info table about the Darfur Genocide. Please come, have fun, and support you fellow peers! Who knows, you might even have Fun!
In DY there is also a great deal of different kinds of music classes for any type of interest. There is band, jazz band, chorus, and orchestra for the people that know how to play. Then there is also a new Guitar class that can teach you how to play like a GOD! There are also practical classes like Music In Our Lives and History of Rock. After school there are also great opportunities to share your talent. DY offers a chamber orchestra, a highly decorated marching band, and even a winter percussion!
